Ever smoke weed with a homeless person just so he'll get the munchies afterward and not be able to buy any food?

This past weekend, while walking down the street here in prestigious Gloucester City, Lina and I spotted a female. Well, we didn't spot her. I'm sure she already had those freckles. I mean we saw her.

While that's not a unique or extraordinary experience, it was the minor details that got me. Like the fact that she was wearing a tiny two-piece bikini and nothing else. Keep in mind she was around 19 years old. Cute. A slight bit pudgy if I were to nitpick, but definitely doable.

Even that wouldn't be so much of a memorable experience, except she was lying on the sidewalk flat on her back, with her legs parted to the view of the passing traffic.

God, I love this town.

All's well that ends well -

1) When I was scheduled to have Comcast come out and hook up teh interweb, I was dreading getting up at 8 a.m. to be ready for them. Happy to have them here, of course, but didn't want to get up that early. The day before their arrival, I get a phone call from the installer - he's at my house wondering where I am. Fuck. They fucked up my appointment day! I called the office. Initially the CSR told me it would take several more days. I played the part of the squeaky wheel to get some grease (let it be known that I played it in a very civil, sociable, respectful and just plain nice manner). Lo and behold, I was able to get the appointment for a mere two hours after the original time. So I got to have it that day, but at a more convenient time after all. Score one for me!

2) Yesterday I bought some blank CDRs from Radio Shack. Found a 50-stack for $15. Not a bad deal. I paid for them and got home, only to notice they'd charged me $20. Dammit. I went back today with receipt in hand to get my $5. Lo and behold, today they started a new rebate program offering an addition $10 off of the CDRs. If they hadn't screwed up the first time, I never would've got that extra $10.

Sometimes life's fuck-ups are a good thing. Whodathunkit?

What a day. James Doohan is dead. A naked man who stole a cop car in Philly today is dead. And I had chicken wings for dinner. I'm sure there's some connection between them all.

I'm typing this from the home of the world's classiest Internet cafe - that's right, Burger King. They actually have a friggin Internet cafe here!

Trying to read 1wrestling on a version of IE with no pop-up blocker is nearly impossible. I gave up on the site after three minutes. How the heck do they make any money?

Work is going well so far. I had my first taste of a difficult project today. Pretty frustrating, but it was all cleared up by one tiny piece of information by the guy who normally works on it (he is on vacation this week). It helps if you know that what the client calls "position 551" is really "position 851." Things just fall together so beautifully after that little tidbit of info.

I found out that one of the SQL guys at work is a horror movie buff. He has the companion Dracula figure to the Frankenstein figure I bought the other day. In the course of talking horror movies with him for four minutes, he already went into a rant about how awful Saw is. All on his own, with no prompting from me. I think I like that guy.

I'm still living in a mostly-barren house. No Lina, no Punky, no TiVo, no Internet, no furniture...it's all I can do to keep from raping the neighbors' dog just for the entertainment value. And well, he is kinda hot. It'll all be made right soon enough.

My plans to go see They Might Be Giants and The Mutter Museum with Rachael have been canned. Bummer, but I'm not really familiar enough with TMBG to have appreciated it anyway. The Mutter Museum, on the other hand, I'll definitely have to hit sometime. Maybe the next time Rachael can get a break to come up, we'll hit that.

I found a local car dealer that just blew me away. A whole car lot full of antique/classic cars. Mostly muscle cars. Beautiful, beautiful muscle cars. Can I have the black convertible GTO? Can I, huh?

The local network TV lineup is a little more robust than Richmond's. There's one station that shows mostly international stuff. I watched an Asian news broadcast this morning. The language wasn't Japanese, but I can't tell you much more than that. They also have German, Polish and other programs. And there's a whole friggin Mexican channel for free. I haven't caught any lucha on it yet, but there's always hope.

Only a few more days until I get Comcast 'net hooked up at home. How I miss thee.

I'm in NJ! I won't have Internet access until July 16th, so I'm posting this from the library.

Prepare for an assault of silly photos from around town when I return.

Cheers
